TECOM DKP Management Office

When TECOM decided to renovate their Management offices in Dubai Knowledge Park, the brief given was to design a contemporary office that was reflective of the future vision of the TECOM group. It was crucial that wellbeing principles were included in the space. The existing space had small windows and to introduce more daylight, window openings were enlarged. Live plants were introduced in all the major areas following biophilic principles. They were integrated cleverly in the design to make them seem like key design features. In the end, the overall design is cohesive and harmonious. The space needed to function as a reception area in addition to being a functional office. The challenge was to accommodate both in the right proportion. It took some time to get the space plan approved by all the stake holders. Since the client was also very design savvy, they wanted to see something different and we had to adapt accordingly. Tones of grey with a rich deep wood form the chic color palette. Materials with different textures but with only a slight variation in color were used to create a harmonious material scheme. Swiss Bureau came up with an idea to use tinted glass instead of clear glass for the partitions. This provided a dual intent of providing privacy and creating a design impact that was different from the norm. A combination of soft and hard flooring was used to create transitions within the different zones. Carpet flooring was used in the open workstation areas and meeting rooms while the Majlis is softened with loose rugs. The Pantry features a beautiful patterned tile flooring. Linen textured wallpaper and concrete finish were used for the walls to create interesting textural contrasts.   The Major spaces included the Reception/Lounge area which features a long wall which integrates the logo of the company with a planter feature. This space also sections off the office into Meeting Zone and Main Office Zone. The Meeting Zone features Several meeting areas and a Majlis. Wood paneling with metal lighting features define these areas. The Main office zone has an open workstation area and a Breakout area along with a pantry. Accent colors were introduced in the latter two spaces to make them more fun and lively.
